Excellence in performance stems from continuous improvement and the constant commitment to developing best practices at every organisational and operational level.

The adoption of certified management systems represents a fundamental tool for the Group to integrate sustainability principles into its day-to-day activities. Through internationally recognised standards, such as ISO standards in the fields of quality, environment, health and safety, the Group is able to ensure structured, transparent processes focused on continuous improvement.

Certified management systems not only enable compliance with regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations, but also help prevent risks, enhance internal resources and promote a corporate culture based on responsibility. From a sustainable development perspective, management systems therefore constitute a strategic lever for strengthening environmental, social and organisational performance throughout the value chain.

Among the internationally certified standards adopted by the Group’s European companies are those relating to quality management (ISO 9001), environmental management (ISO 14001), occupational health and safety (ISO 45001), energy management (ISO 50001), as well as anti-bribery management (ISO 37001), gender equality (UNI/PdR 125), diversity and inclusion (ISO 30415), and social accountability (SA8000).

These certifications are complemented by SOA qualifications for the execution of highly specialised railway, technological and civil engineering works, including authorisations for contracts of unlimited value.

All certified systems are monitored annually through external audits in order to ensure their effectiveness and continuous alignment with the relevant standards.

Protecting the environment, using resources and energy responsibly, identifying and minimising risks to people, ensuring compliance with laws and respect for rights and equality, and guaranteeing high standards of efficiency are more than objectives: they are the very values that guide our activities. They represent a foundational value of excellence for our works and for those who benefit from them.

ESG Certifications: a sustainability journey

In today’s global context, where rail transport is increasingly recognised as one of the most environmentally sustainable modes of mobility, the Group reaffirms its commitment to sustainability, considering it a strategic pillar and a key driver for the creation of long-term value. Through responsible industrial choices, investments in technological innovation and management focused on environmental and social impacts, the Group actively contributes to the transition towards a more efficient, low-emission transport system.

In line with this commitment, several Group companies participate annually in the sustainability assessment conducted by EcoVadis, an internationally recognised platform.

During 2024, the Group companies that undertook the ESG assessment or certification renewal process achieved overall positive results, demonstrating the Group’s growing commitment to environmental, social and ethical issues:

• GCF confirmed its Silver Medal with a score of 69/100, marking an improvement compared with the previous year;
• Gefer achieved a significant recognition with a score of 75/100, earning the Gold Medal and demonstrating substantial progress in the sustainable management of its activities;
• Cenedese received the Bronze Medal with a score of 67/100;
• GCFE also obtained the Bronze Medal, with a score of 65/100.
