Master Engineers, Internships Started

Candidates in companies for on-the-job training

Starting from July 1st, the internship activity in companies provided by the Training Plan of the Second Level University Master in Infrastructure and Railway Systems Engineering proposed by the University La Sapienza of Rome with the support and collaboration of the major companies in the railway sector, has begun, including at GCF.

Intended for second level engineering graduates, the Master has been offering for several years a training path aimed at a multidisciplinary scientific improvement in the railway transport sector and overall mobility, in order to allow participants to acquire knowledge potentially useful to meet the needs of administrations, railway companies, engineering firms, research centers, and companies and industries operating in the sector.

"After the theoretical training part, with academic lessons given by university professors and RFI staff - explains Paolo Lopez, Head of Railway Systems Engineering at GCF - in July, as scheduled, the more practical phase began with the internship activity in the company. Two engineers at GCF are following an intense program aimed at acquiring on-the-field knowledge of the various railway segments - from armament, to electrification, to signaling - and acquiring technical expertise to complete the second level training course."

The training proposal prepared by GCF for the two trainee engineers includes activities both at the headquarters and on some of the most significant GCF sites: "In this way - continues Engineer Lopez - they will be able to become familiar with the entire construction process of a multidisciplinary railway work: from the analysis of the design process, articulated in its various phases of development and verification, to the phases of operational planning and implementation of the project on our sites."

The Master, lasting a total of 7 months full-time, will end in October with the presentation of the projects developed during the internship period.

Due to the direct involvement of the companies that have joined, both with scholarships and participation in teaching and the provision of internships, the Master represents an important opportunity for specialization and access to excellent training before entering the railway transport world.

The effectiveness of the strong integration approach with the business realities that support the Master is demonstrated by the ever-high interest in this training proposal and by the results in terms of job opportunities offered to the students (in the 18 editions concluded so far, about 500 Master graduates have been integrated into the companies that support it, with a placement of over 91%.

Organized in collaboration with the most important companies in the railway sector, the Master counts among its partners, in addition to For.Fer, the Italian State Railways Group, Almaviva, Alstom Ferroviaria, BPS Deployment, ETS, Ferrotramviaria Engineering, Hitachi Rail STS, IDOM, Salcef, Siemens Mobility, ZF Italia and, of course, Generale Costruzioni Ferroviarie.
