Two Days in the Senate for Safety Culture

GCF presents the "STOP" project to eliminate railway accidents

Workplace safety as an opportunity for development. This is the central theme of two days of discussion and in-depth analysis organized at the Senate of the Republic for Wednesday, July 17, and 24. On both occasions, legislators, trade unions, and some of the country's largest companies will gather at a round table to create stronger synergy aimed at preventing workplace injuries.

First appointment Wednesday, July 17, from 11, at the Sala Nassiriya, for the organization of the Fondazione Ottimisti & Razionali. The focus is a pilot project born from a technology born from a technology provided by the company Accyourate, and based on the application of sensors to regular fabrics (wearable like a work shirt) capable of monitoring biomedical parameters related to the worker's health and psychophysical state in real time. In this way, smart T-shirts and other work clothing can raise alarms in case of health risks for workers and prevent injuries. This device has been tested for months on about 400 volunteer workers divided into clusters based on the type of job (office, outdoor, heavy work, stressful work) from several companies that, like GCF, have enthusiastically welcomed and supported the project.

Speeches are expected from Claudio Durigon, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies; Susanna Camusso, Senator, former General Secretary of CGIL (2010-2019); Hon. Cesare Damiano, former Minister of Labour (2006-2008), father of Legislative Decree 81 on occupational health and safety, and current President of the Labor & Welfare Association; Francesco Saverio Violante, Professor of Occupational Medicine at UniBO and Director of Occupational Medicine at the Sant’Orsola Hospital (BO); Fabrizio Palermo, CEO of ACEA; Marco Lombardi, CEO of Proger S.p.A. and Giuseppe Brecciaroli, Executive Director of Generale Costruzioni Ferroviarie S.p.A., who stressed: "For us, safety at work is very important: those who come to a railway yard immediately realize how risky the work of our workers is. Passive devices are necessary, but when technology comes to your rescue and presents you with a product that can save lives and improve the quality of work, we could only say yes and we are happy to have participated in the trial. We hope to see positive results soon".

The meeting, moderated by journalist Luca Telese, was preceded by the greetings from Claudio Velardi, President of the Ottimisti & Razionali Foundation.

This was stated by Giuseppe Brecciaroli, Executive Director of Generale Costruzioni Ferroviarie (photo below), during the conference at the Senate, speaking about GCF's participation in the experimentation of Accyourate's textile technology for health and safety at work, which consists of smart garments capable of measuring biovital and environmental parameters and sending them wirelessly. "For us," added Brecciaroli, "workplace safety is extremely important. Anyone who comes to a railway construction site immediately realizes how risky our workers' jobs are. That's why, when this project was presented to us, we accepted immediately."

 "Safety at work. Innovation and integration of key areas" is the theme of the second meeting, on Wednesday 24 July, for the initiative of Senator Antonio Trevisi, at the Zuccari Hall of Palazzo Giustiniani.
