Lot 4 TVE Sidi El Aidi – Marrakech, Morocco

The project involves the modernisation of the existing double-track conventional railway line (“Voies en Exploitation”) between Sidi El Aidi and Marrakech, with the aim of increasing the efficiency of the line and stations and improving interconnection with the Kenitra–Marrakech high-speed line currently under construction.
Lot 4, awarded to GCF S.p.A. as Lead Company of the consortium with GCFMA, provides for the completion within 36 months of civil works, railway track works, as well as the design and construction of the overhead contact line.

Key features of the project

The intervention specifically concerns six existing stations (Sidi El Aidi, Settat, Benguerir, Sidi Boutmane, Palmerale–Sidi Ghanem and Gueliz) and two newly built stations (Ville Verte and Stade de Marrakech, located near the stadium).
In order to ensure effective interconnection with the high-speed line, significant works are planned on the track layout, including the construction of new tracks, extension of passing loops, and installation of railway switches. In addition to track superstructure and catenary works, the project also includes the construction of all complementary civil works, such as platforms, passenger platforms, hydraulic works, and reinforced concrete perimeter walls.

This type of “multidisciplinary” intervention is well established within GCF’s experience. Since its first contract in Morocco in 2014, GCF has been involved in the refurbishment of 20 stations along the Tangier–Casablanca corridor, carrying out civil works, track works, overhead contact line, signalling and lighting systems. In 2017, GCF also delivered the full range of technological systems for the new Rabat-Agdal railway station.
