LOKO 741 AC Locomotives
The LOKO 741 AC locomotive is a diesel-electric work machine valued in the field for its reliability and efficiency. For this reason, it is used in heavy and continuous shunting operations in railway terminals, as well as a construction vehicle within RUMO activities for the building, maintenance, and electrification of railway lines.
The electric power transmission and DC traction motors ensure effective and smooth delivery of power to all four axles, even at low diesel engine speeds. The optimal combination of power, wheel arrangement, and axle load guarantees high performance, reliability, and redundancy even in the most demanding conditions.
Moreover, the modern cab, equipped with safety subsystems and visibility devices, provides quiet operation and comfort for the operating personnel.
Main features
• The locomotive’s wheel arrangement consists of two two-axle bogies with four traction motors, each axle individually controlled to ensure redundancy and operability even in degraded conditions.
• The propulsion unit, located in the front hood, consists of a Caterpillar C3508 engine and a Siemens traction alternator. The front hood also houses most auxiliary drives, the diesel engine cooling unit, and the pneumatic system.
• The electrical cabinet and electrodynamic brake unit are located in the rear hood. Power regulation and control of the entire locomotive are managed by the MSV Elektronika control system, which includes cruise control and remote diagnostics.
• The locomotive can operate in multiple traction mode, coupling up to three units under a single operator.
