Master’s Degree for Railway Engineers: Applications Now Open

GCF Scholarships for Master’s Engineers

Universities and Companies for Advanced Training

Applications are now open for the Second-Level University Master’s Programme in Infrastructure and Railway Systems Engineering, offered once again for the 2025/2026 academic year by Sapienza University of Rome in cooperation with leading companies in the railway sector.

Now in its 21st edition, the Master aims to provide a multidisciplinary advanced training path in the field of railway transport and mobility systems, integrating engineering, economic and legal aspects essential for planning, designing, operating and maintaining railway systems.

The effectiveness of the Master’s strong integration with the corporate world is demonstrated by the consistently high level of interest and by the excellent employment outcomes: in the 20 editions completed so far, over 500 graduates have been hired by the supporting companies, with a placement rate exceeding 91%.

The Master is open to candidates holding a second-cycle degree in Engineering, in the degree classes listed in the Call for Applications. Students who will graduate by 31 March 2026 may also apply.

The deadline to submit the application is 31 January 2026.

Admission will be based on the evaluation of academic qualifications and an entrance test assessing technical knowledge, English language proficiency and aptitude. A maximum of 35 students will be admitted.

The enrolment fee is € 3,000.00.

As in previous editions, partner companies — including Generale Costruzioni Ferroviarie S.p.A. — will award € 3,000 (gross) scholarships to the first 10 admitted candidates who attend at least 75% of classroom activities.

The Master requires full-time commitment for 7 months: from February to June 2026 for lectures (held in English), group work and educational visits; from July to September for the internship in partner companies. The final examination, consisting of the discussion of the project developed during the internship, is scheduled for October 2026.

Applications must be submitted exclusively online by 24:00 on 31 January 2026, using the following form.
